Star point guard visits HPHS for a special clinic

Jay Williams scored over 2,000 points in his career at Duke University and played point guard for Duke?s 2001 national title team. Williams, who grew up in Plainfield, graduated from St. Joseph (Metuchen) High School and went on to win the 2002 Naismith Player of the Year Award at Duke before being selected second-overall by the Chicago Bulls in 2002.

A motorcycle accident following his rookie year seriously injured his leg but he rehabbed feverishly and got back on the basketball court, making a comeback attempt with the New Jersey Nets in the 2006 preseason, and with the Austin Toros of the NBDL in 2007.

Now retired as a player, Williams works for a fitness company, where he travels around the country to host his signature basketball camps. He is getting a broadcasting career underway at either ESPN or CBS next year.
