Could you use some free computer software? Or how about a gift certificate from one of the greenest spas in New Jersey? Maybe a gift basket from a chic flower shop?

You have a chance to win all of that, plus more, in the 3rd Annual “Win the Window” contest sponsored by Main Street Highland Park (MSHP).

Twenty-three local businesses have donated items or gift certificates to build a hoard valued at nearly $1,000 and one lucky person will win it all.

“We had an enormous response last year to ‘Win the Window,’” said James McCrone, executive director of MSHP, the non-profit that promotes the businesses along Raritan Avenue in the borough. “This gives us a chance to highlight the businesses and create interest in downtown during the slow months.”

The window of gifts is on display at 320 Raritan Ave. The drawing will be at 3 p.m., Feb 28 at Unity Bank, 104 Raritan Ave.

The following businesses are participating in “Win the Window”:

  • Aposto Mediterranean Cuisine
  • Unity Bank
  • Roberts Florals
  • Raspberry Beret

There is no purchase necessary to win, but you must enter the contest by filling out the form in at least one of the participating businesses. To increase your chances of winning, you can fill out the form at every participating business.

McCrone is hoping that when people visit the stores to enter the contest that they purchase an item.

Jenni Chapman, a member of the MSHP executive board and member of the promotions committee, said “Win the Window” allows businesses to display what they have to offer.

“We want to generate excitement around the businesses. You go in and you can’t help but to look around,” she said.
