Come back, baby, come back
To the editor -
I was very excited when I saw that the Highland Park Mirror had resumed publishing. That was until I realized it could only be accessed “online.” I am aware that publishing in print is an expensive undertaking, but there are entire segments of the population that are disenfranchised by the “online” publication. Many residents either do not have a computer available to them, have dial-up, or just won’t go “on line.”
The Mirror has been the only source for the dissemination of both hard news and human interest stories to the residents of the Boro. As such it provides a public service that serves the community well.
Currently, it is almost impossible for organizations to communicate to the residents, the local news and the activities that are either occurring or in the planning stages. Except for the HP Quarterly, which as its name indicates, is published four times a year, there is no alternate method of communication. There is also no medium available for public response. “The Home News” and “The Star Ledger” are totally inadequate. “The Jewish State” is no longer publishing and HPTV doesn’t exist, at this point.
Please reconsider your decision to publish “on line” only.
