The application to open Tikun Olam Hebrew Language Academy was denied in New Jersey's latest round of charter submissions, released by the state Department of Education on September 30th.

Unlike the spring 2011 approvals of 23 new schools, department officials gave the nod to only four applicants in the latest cycle.

Two abandoned industrial properties along Highland Park's railroad tracks are currently the subject of "builders remedy" suits, alleging that the borough is failing to provide adequate affordable housing.

The former Illuminating Experiences and Midland Ross/Honeywell sites, both near Cleveland Avenue, are proposed for residential developments that would be vetted through a judicial process rather than the local zoning and planning boards.

An ostensibly rubber-stamp Democratic primary took a surprising detour Monday with an eleventh-hour write-in campaign for mayor by Elsie Foster-Dublin.

The borough council veteran's play for the center chair drew outrage and complaints of "unethical," "disrespectful" behavior from local party leaders throughout the day and into Tuesday’s election.

Avalon Bay engineers presented an overview of their proposed northside residential development to the Zoning Board of Adjustment on January 28th, before about thirty citizens and the borough's planning professionals.

Avalon proposes 178 luxury rental units, including ten detached townhouses and two apartment buildings on the property at 233 Cleveland Avenue currently occupied by the Illuminating Experiences lighting factory.
