About Us

The MIRROR's mad, mad mission is "Reflecting Highland Park's Community," with publications that inform, engage, and entertain our diverse audience of readers. We first appeared as a print newspaper in spring 2007, with a circulation of 1800 free (pulled) copies. Circulation and market area grew at a slow sustainable pace over the next two years, up to 5000 pulled copies by 2010.

The HPMIRROR.COM website launched in 2008 to complement the print editions.

In 2010 the paper migrated to weekly publication online, coupled with occasional print issues for street exposure and more thorough distribution through the market area. The website gathers 45,000 page views monthly (June 2011). Redundant monthly readership is 3500, about one-third the circulation of the print magazine, and growing by the month.

Head Newsman In Charge

David Younge is the founder and general manager of The MIRROR. His professional experience includes more than fifteen years in corporate communications and marketing; ten years of community and political volunteer work; and five years as a non-profit board officer. Since starting the paper in 2007 he has also picked up experience as an entrepreneur, citizen journalist, and business-to-business account rep.
