In a unanimous vote, the Highland Park Board of Education has accepted the bid of Temco Facility Services to provide facilities management to the borough's public schools. The decision at Monday's board meeting was cheered by more than a dozen custodial and maintenance employees and their supporters.

The borough council veteran's play for the center chair drew outrage and complaints of "unethical," "disrespectful" behavior from local party leaders throughout the day and into Tuesday’s election.

But, in actuality, it was a plebiscite rather than an election. The Committee had done such a good job that it had narrowed the scope of the voters’ judgment down to zero – with exactly one candidate for each position.

Tyler Rios had just moved to Highland Park from Newark in 2005. He was walking the halls of Bartle Elementary School when he came across flyers promoting recreation wrestling.

He thought it’d be a cool idea to get involved, but had no idea that the decision would lead to something much bigger than a hobby.
