Kitten Fest aims to pair up felines & families

Have you ever wondered about the stray cats you see on the street or by the dumpster near the supermarket? Do you worry when you see one who is obviously pregnant or has just had kittens? And what do you think about those adorable fast-moving sometimes wild babies?

Many of these cats have been abandoned by irresponsible people, or have been born on the streets near the dumpster or under a porch. You may think they enjoy these lives but if you believe that, for the most part, you would be wrong.

Cattitude Inc will hold a special Kitten Fest adoption extravaganza for two days on Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29 from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Petco, 1333 Centennial Avenue in Piscataway. (Our regular adoption day is every Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM.) All of the kittens available for adoption will have had their initial shots and will have been FIV/FeLV tested.

Cats who live in the streets generally have short frightening lives. They eat dumpster food that makes them sick; they get hit by cars; they are abused by neighborhood kids. Their kittens often die shortly after they are born from exposure or illness. If they don’t die, eye infections often make them blind—and a blind cat has no survival skills.

NJ Cattitude, a NJ non-proft corporation based in Highland Park, is removing as many of these homeless and abandoned cats and kittens as possible from the streets and local shelters and finding them the permanent loving homes they deserve. Everyone at Cattitude is a volunteer and we are always looking for people who will foster cats and dogs or provide financial support through donations.

We now have more than 70 kittens of all shapes, sizes and colors living in foster homes. These beautiful babies are looking for people who will adopt them into their lives and love and care for them forever. In addition to the kittens, their mothers and many other beautiful older cats, we have many dogs and puppies who are also looking for good homes.

If you or someone you know is looking for a kitten, cat, puppy or dog, please adopt from a local shelter or from a rescue organization like Cattitude, Inc.
